Video call from unknown number? Experts suggest turning off the lights and holding the phone to prevent blackmail
Are video fraudsters trying to blackmail? Before that, make your house 'Blackout'. Turn off the room lights temporarily. Such is the advice of cyber (Cyber Crime) experts.
The danger of video calls is growing. Residents of many parts of the state, including Kolkata, are falling prey to cyber fraud. Police are giving new advice to the people of the state to avoid this trap. According to experts, gang members from Bharatpur in Rajasthan are generally associated with such crimes. Cyber criminals from Delhi or other states also commit such crimes. Police have already arrested members of the gang.
An official in Lalbazar said that whether it was Bharatpur or Delhi, women were also directly involved in these gangs. Even from Kolkata, members of the gang have been arrested in Lalbazar. Allegedly they used local women. Lalbazar detectives found out that the gang was trying to blackmail by taking pornographic videos of the women. The CIDO has found evidence that the women are associated with the gang.
A CID official said on social media that a professor was recently called by a woman disguised as his student. After that, they tried to blackmail him by making a video call and sending nude pictures asking for five lakh rupees. Two people were also arrested in connection with the fraud. Police and cyber experts advise that if a stranger makes a video call, it is best not to catch it. If someone catches a video call, he should immediately turn off the light if he is inside the house. In it, the person who made the video call can be seen. But you will not see the face of the person who has been called. As a result, the fraudsters will not get any benefit even if they try to blackmail him.
